SERVICES
Dr. Jablonka is dedicated to providing evidence-based care in a compassionate and flexible manner. She fosters a warm and collaborative therapeutic environment and strives to empower her clients with the tools they need to effectively manage their emotions, navigate life's difficulties, and live healthier, happier lives.
INDIVIDUAL PSYCHOTHERAPY
Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is an evidence-based treatment that examines the relationship between our thoughts, feelings, and actions, and explores how these variables interact to impact an individual’s mood, functioning, and general life satisfaction. CBT is a time-limited, goal-oriented, and skills-based approach that teaches clients to identify the various parts of their emotional experiences, develop alternative patterns of thinking, and engage in more effective behavior.
Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) is an evidence-based treatment that was developed by Marsha Linehan, Ph.D., to help individuals manage intense emotions, impulsive/destructive behaviors, and interpersonal difficulties. As a comprehensive treatment, it includes weekly individual therapy, skills training group, telephone coaching for skills generalization, and a consultation team. Although Dr. Jablonka does not offer comprehensive DBT, she incorporates DBT skills and strategies in individual therapy, offering DBT-informed treatment.
PARENTING
Parenting support is an essential component of child/adolescent work. Parent training can be conducted as a stand-alone treatment or in conjunction with individual child/adolescent therapy. Goals of parenting work include improving the parent-child relationship, supporting effective child/adolescent behavior, and helping parents regulate their own emotions that arise in the context of parenting.
Dr. Jablonka is trained in Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions (SPACE), a parent-based treatment for children and adolescents with anxiety and OCD. Developed by Eli Lebowitz, Ph.D., at Yale University, SPACE is a time-limited intervention that focuses on 1) increasing parental support and 2) reducing accommodations that maintain child anxiety symptoms.
MINDFULNESS
Jon Kabat-Zinn, the founder of Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), defined mindfulness as “the awareness that arises from paying attention, on purpose, in the present moment and non-judgmentally.” By cultivating mindfulness, we have an opportunity to slow down, check in, and make choices that align with our values and long-term goals. Mindfulness can also ground us in the present moment, which can reduce distress that often comes from worrying about the future or ruminating about the past. Dr. Jablonka incorporates mindfulness and other acceptance-based strategies into individual therapy and parenting sessions, and offers short-term mindfulness training to individuals interested in initiating or further developing their mindfulness practice.
